Hello , I just finished my cycle and got a small CUC on my 30 gallon tank. I wanna know what is the best HOB skimmer under 200 bucks for a tank my size .
The octopus 1000 looks good, but don't know much about it, what other options do I have ???

    thanks a lot ....

check reef octo for a hob, i saw one they sell not long ago, the one i saw was rated for like a 150 gallon tank, but im sure they have some for your tank...

the reef octos i saw also werent like the normal ones you see, they have the pump mounted outside which i think is a huge advantage...

Tunez or Hydor are the only ones I like. CPR works well too.

I don't like the ones with the motors that are not submerged like on the eshopps and Octopus. Seem to run hot and loud.

Not necessarily HOB, but it is an in-tank, or submersible skimmmer.

I recommend the Hydor nano Skim ($105 on Marine Depot). I have it on my 29G. great skimmer. Check out the review in my signature.

Honestly in a tank that small, unless your having nitrate problems or keeping alot of sps, weekly water changes will do enough to not need a skimmer IMO.

I used a CPR backpack with an accela pump and loved it.
