Best HOB skimmer under $200 for 30 gallon reef ???

Just one more suggestion: I have a Aqua C Remora for my 20 G tank and am very happy with it. Cost $160.00. Rated for 20-75 Gallons. Works as advertised.

 

i have an aquamaxx hob for my 37g w/ 10g sump. I got it used on craigslist for $100. Things is a beast for its size. well built, easy to clean, quiet, and reliable. cant recommend enough. It is rated up to a 75 or 90 g i think.

P.s. i had an aquatic life mini skimmer, rated up to 50g i believe. the thing lasted 7 months, never worked right and it stopped working an electrocuted me. skip over this brand.

 

I had a CPR BakPak 2 on my old tank and it worked fairly well for a couple years. For my new build that I haven't setup yet, I bought an AquaMaxx HOB-1 and this thing is definitely built nicer than the BakPak was.

 

I have a Aquac remora that I like. No experience with any others but it worked well.

 

I too have an AquaC Remora (actually have 2 of them as well as a Remora Pro for a future build). And I love it. I have used it on a 38g tank, but now have it on my 20g. Worked great on the 38g, and also works wonderfully on the 20g.

If you look, you can find them on other reef forums for about $80 used (including shipping). That's how I purchased all of mine.
