    Hey,

I have a 72 gallon bowfront with a fixture that contains for t5 bulb and 4 moon light leds. I've been thinking of upgrading to a metal halide system but I've been warn that electricity bill will rise a lot compared to other lighting methods.

Well the question is what type of led light fixture will be best for any coral from mushshrooms to sps corals. Thanks

This will go round and round if you don't give a set of parameters. dimensions, price point, desited look, ect....

Ok sorry I'll elaborate it some more (forgot thier are a lot on the market)

It's going to have to fit on my bowfront tank so the dimentions are gonna have to be 48 inches long and 13-15 inches (Lxw)

Budget, currently you dont have to worry about it...I rather buy an exspensive, durable, long lasting and efficent fixture for reef keeping needs then a cheap, flimsy fixture that won't keep up with a reef.

For looks I would like to have the leds that make corals glow at night (green ones especially)...I could get a mini fixture of these at marinedepot and simply glue/tape/velcro it on to the fixture if need be.

    Thanks

If cost is not an issue I think AI sol or Orphek are the top rated. Bang for buck is Boost LED in my opinion. Cheapest yet still good quality would be a DIY kit from RAPID LED

I would have to agree with this. I have had boostled and i currently have ai sol blue and love it. There are some other brand that others would argue to be great as well but its all a matter of what you want your lights to do and what you need.

There are going to be a lot of opinions on this, especially when you get into the LED discussion. The thing to keep in mind is that you need to be comfortable with what you purchase. There are many fixtures out there with a range of features. Pick and choose what you MUST have, would LIKE to have and don't NEED...then you can begin to narrow the field.

I am running LED on my new tank and ran MH on all my others.... MH is expensive to power and then bulbs a minimum of one time per year...

Well I'll naroow it some more, I would like to spend less then $1000...preferably less

Well I want leds that just do 2 things...day time leds and moon leds

Hopefully thier are leds for cheaper price that can help care for sps corals
