My 120 has not run in 1.5 years, I am about to get her set up again. I would love some lighting suggestions using all or part of the units I used to run in it. I will not give kelvins on bulbs because I want honest opinions. If I do not own something that may be better that is ok because if I agree I will buy it.

Tank is 24x24x48 will be reef

    I have
    2 400 watt MH
    1 250 watt MH
    4 96 watt PC
    moon lighting

really the lighting you still have is fine.

but you may run into heat problems with 2 400 watt halides. you may have to buy a chiller.

your best setup would prolly be 2 10k 250 watt halides.(so you would need another 250)
    and use pc as actinics.

thanks for inputs, i used to run 6,700k in 2 PCs and the other 2 were actinics, u think all 4 would be sweet with 2 250 MH?

you can play around with it, normally i would put 12k bulb in the halides but since 4 actinics is alot i went down to the 10k.

i figure since most bulbs flourescent fixtures come with 50/50 10k and actinic.

i figured using all four would be closest.
if you have the option of using one or two pc only. i would do 12k halides and the 2 pc actinics.

really you don't need the other 2 power compacts.

sweet, what I am wanting to here, I used to have a rediculous watt per gallon ratio, but I hit every spectrum, looking to down size that model, so you think 2 250 watt MH is better then 2 400 MH for a 24" deep tank? because currently thinking of using those. I used to run 10k in the 400's 20k in the 250w MH 2 96w actinic, 2 96w 6,700k and moons.

so is 12k best to run with MH?

i like 12k because its got some blue to it already so it doesn't look as white.

i think the 2 250 watts should do a good job i used to run them on the 90 i had same depth.. if they were 100 watts you would have a problem.
yea you don't need all those lights you had even if your growing acros.

Awesome! I will plan on buying another 250w Mh, but still curious do I not need some lower kelvins for algea/plankton to grow and get consumed.

i would buy phytoplanton from the store if you want to feed corals. you don't want algae to grow lol.

also if you buy good bulb most will put out a large range of the light spectrum.

your fuge is another matter though. but for your display tank the 12k and actinics should be all your corals need
