Haha yeah. I don't think I can risk putting it down a drain because I'll probably clog it :/ it's only about 38 ish gallons after rocks and stuff so I can just spread it out.

So the vinegar method isn't entirely necessary? Spraying it with a hose would be much faster/easier. I do have argonite, but I was planning on switching the sand to black sand

Most likely there is chlorine in your tap water. I wouldn't waste my time with vinegar unless you have tough algae to scrub. If it is a glass tank, a razor blade will make quick work of algae.

If you have well water. A capful of chlorine bleach with the well water will kill anything. Just make sure you rinse it out well and add water conditioner to it.

If it were me, I wouldn't fool with the bleach. I seriously doubt much SW bacteria can survive in FW and the amount of residual nitrates would be undetectable. But when you buy a used tank from a stranger, always use vinegar or bleach to clean it.
    Cause you never know...

I'm losing pretty badly to the GHA in my tank, but it's very easy to get rid of. (oh and it's acrylic) but yeah probably no bleach...don't want to take any chances. So hose it is! and I have tap water.

Ugh it's going to be a pain taking out my CUC...I got like 100 dwarf ceriths from reefcleaners (ordered 30)
