I am looking for a new return pump and was wanting to get feedback for the best pump for the 200-250 range.... I have a 125 gallon DT and a 30gallon wet dry filter that I have removed the bio balls and put a small fuge in it. The pump will have about 4' vertical climb in a 3/4" return with 1 tee, 6- 90 degree. Going to come off of the pump and split to two return lines back into the tank.

Another question I have found a reeflo dart/snapper hybrid for around $200. Are these pumps any good? Or work for my setup?

They are good but are for much higher flow than you are looking at. Also they use more energy and generate more heat.

So what would be your recommendation for a pump or flow rate for my system? I am new but was thinking it would be better to dial back a bigger pump in case it is needed for other items at a later date. But don't want something just too big. I am planning on getting a couple of power heads as well for better water movement, any ideas are appreciated? How and what would you use on a similar system, if yours?

Right at the range you were looking at for 4 foot head is right where the 6 to 10X the volume of the sump for return flow.

I would look into Koralia or Vortech pumps for additional flow in the display tank. You will want 50+X the tank volume for SPS and 20 to 50X the volume for Softies and LPS.

Besides Eheim, the Reeflo Blowhole pumps are a very good alternative.

Just an FYI - pumps do not like to be dialed back. They should have no back pressure whenever possible, just head pressure.

To start, figure out what you want to do with the tank. Reef tanks need more flow than a FOWLR. Then from there, pick a pump that will give you the flow you need at 4' of head. If you are coming off the pump with 3/4" PVC, then a pump with a 3/4" outlet would make since. Then, make sure your overflow(s) are able to flow well more than what the pump puts out.

look for something that pumps between 1300 to 1600 gph. Then base your purchase on reviews and cost. Remember....you get what you pay for.

Would that be in total or per powerhead?
