Best salt

Geekdafied turned me on to Coralife salt. Its calcium is higher out of the box than most others.

 

found out coralife and oceanic come from same factory--I just switched from io to oceanic--very similar to reef crystals but less expensive and dissolves better

 

I use Tropic Marin for 5 years with no issues. Some of the reason I use it are it's Alk and Calcium are balanced. I can get at from 3 different LFS in my area for a good price. Once you decided on a brand stick with it that brand and always test fresh salt water to make sure you know what the levels are when you start. This will help you under what you might need to dose in between water changes. Good Luck

 

D-D's H2Ocean Mg pro plus, hands down... I have been in the hobby for about 5 years and I have used just about every salt on the market. This is truly a breakthrough salt for the home aquarium IMHO. Every batch I have mixed so far has been darn near right on the money. Best part is that I have found very little variation between each batches, a HUGE PLUS considering Reef Crystals, Red Sea Coral Pro, and the like have had MAJOR swings with each batch that I tested. This will probably be the last salt I will use for a quite a while.

Forgot to add, it is expensive but if you can afford it, it is worth a shot!

 

You should also try to look up past threads on this for more advice, this question has come up many times. There really is no "best salt," it comes down to what your needs, what your budget is and what you prefer.

 

Instant ocean. and if you have emergencies you can mix the stuff over night and it is usually ready by the next day. Its been working for me and its also the cheapest. I get a 55 gallon bag for 10 dollars he he

 

I use Reef Crystals (Instant Ocean).

 

I use either reef crystals or coralife, whichever one is available locally at that given time. I feel coralife has better elemental values, reef crystals seems to mix a little nicer though. And +1 to peredhil. Your going to have to dose to get it optimum anyhow.

 

I have wanted to use thi salt, but would have to mail order it and it doesn't quite fit my budget. I do about 20% water changes weekly

 

Im also new, but my reef buddy reccomended Instant Ocean Reef Crystals, so that what im using.
