I was in your position about 4 months ago and asked the same question on here. And almost everybody told me to go with dry rock. What worked well for me was buying dry rock from reefcleaners and I used Dr. Tims one and only. I was skeptical about the "one and only but I was convinced when my tank cycled in 4 days. So I spent $65 for the rock and $14 for the "one and only". Granted in would cost a little more for you because you'll need more rock and a larger dose of "one and only". But still would cost alot less than if you were to go with all live rock.

    +1

Dry rock and Dr. Tims is equal too or better than live rock (no pests)
And that combo is a hell of a lot cheaper. The one and only will shorten the cycle to a point that is roughly equal to using all live rock.

Has anyone gotten any really nice actual live LR lately. Like with all the great "stuff" on it. There's has been none at the LFS in recent years.

I can't really say for live rock, but I have purchased dry from reefcleaners.org- I highly recommend them! They also do great CUC's and will even make a custom one for your specific tank

Yeah I was gonna go ahead and pick up the 50lbs Florida rock deal. I also asked them to put together a list for me for a CUC. Shouldn't I also try and get some live rock to seed the dry? I have one 5lb piece of live rock in my DT right now with lots of purple color to it, will that be enough to seed the rest of the tank?

Just got my Reef Saver dry rock order from Bulk Reef Supply and it was sweet!!!! Beautiful pieces!! And, I ordered 30lbs and they shipped 35lbs to cover any breakage! I think there might be a BRS group buy going on now, that's how I got it. They are great! I highly recommend them!

I order from bulkreefsupply. Ordered 10lbs and ended up with 12.5lbs. They send three awesome pieces that could be built into a perfect little cave. Really impressed with them. Shipping was fast and easy also.
