Best spot for hammer coral??

I got him right under the lights and is budding lots of new"hammers?"It has good extention and overall generally looks good,but....it's losing color,i don't mean like bleaching,more like just fading a little.It's not as bright as it was when i first got him.Params are fine.But what can i do to get him to color up better,could it be too close to the lights?Or could it be flow,he's in mild/moderate flow now. TIA

I would guess too much light. LFS do not keep up on replacing their bulbs and sometimes they a very old and then you buy a coral and place it under your nice new lights and bamm. Flow should sway the tentacles lightly. Pictures ?;D

 

I'd say too much light, or different spectrum from what was at the LFS.

 

Agreed with statements above....too much light. Move it down a bit tand then you can slowly move it back towards the top if that's where you want it!

 

That's kinda what i was figuring,the girl i got it off of,really let her tank go to crap,so i'm pretty sure that her bulbs was definatly old.And now he's under these new lights,i'll work him down and see if color improves,he looks alot better than when i got him,just lighter in color.I'll try to get a pic up shortly,but just had company come in.Thanks for the replies everyone!
