    Hey Everyone,

I need some feedback quickly as I am looking to upgrade my tank and I plan to move to a tank between 55 gallon and 75 gallon with a sump.

I want to get a Tang (Bristletooth, most likely) and have a question: I know that they say minimum size is a 70 gallon, but I believe that is due to the fact that they need room to swim, however, 70 gallon tanks are typically taller, rather than wider (36 x 18 x 23), so wouldn't a 55 gallon be better, since it is 48" long and would provide more horizontal swimming room?

I had a tomini I kept in my 75 that did very well. Id love to have him back from teh person I sold him to. and I believe your tank dimension information is incorrect. a Typical 75 is 48x18x18. a typical 55 is 48x12x18

I mentioned a 70 gallon (not 75), which is what Live Aquaria lists as the minimum tank size. Obviously, if I get a 75 (48 x 18 x 18, as you mentioned) this would be a moot point

I would definitely choose a 75 over55 for the extra volume and aquaskaping room as well as more room for your bristletooth. The cost for other equipment, lighting ect. should be about the same for either tank.

Just curious though, why a 70 and not a 75?

    Who knows, and the 55 is 48 x 12.8 x 21 and the 75 is 48 x 18.5 x 20.

My bad. If you are looking at a 55...just go with the 75. Its a wonderful tank
