I have a live rock fish tank with no coral. I wanted to get some input into the best test kit(s) for a salt water fish aquarium. I have used various test kits over the years and every LFS I have gone to has their own favorite.

I prefer the sailfert test kits, but I suppose this is another preference item.

i am in the process of completely switching over to salifert for everything but i've had luck with some red sea (not Mg) and elos test kits...but i really like salifert test kits the best (but not for alk...i've had luck with API) good luck!

    = FOWLR ;) (fish only w/live rock)

I use API for all but Mg (Red Sea).

I do not like API for PH, Phosphates, Ammonia, Nitrate. Hard to read.

I do like API for dKH, Nitrite, Ca. Very easy to read.

The Red Sea Mg test works well but has a ton of steps. I don't know if other brands are simpler as it's the only one I've used for Mg.

Not sure about other brands, but API requires a lot of shaking.
