What does everyone use and consider to be the best brand of testing kits? Salifert, Tropic marin, Sera, Lamotte, Seachem, Elos,Red Sea, or API ?

API is best bang for the buck.

Salifert is the easiest to use IME.

    I prefer Salifert.

After the initial cycle where API is OK its Salifert hands down.

    I use API. I can't see myself spending $20 on a kit.

Wait until you have several thousand $$ in corals and inhabitants, a $20 kit is nothing.

I like Salifert for cal, and Mag. I use API and Red Sea for the others. I will be getting the Hanna checkers for ALK and Cal to see how I like them.

I started using API, I felt they were reasonably accurate, although without a known number or kit that you know to be accurate it is hard to evaluate the accuracy of a test kit. API tests kits are also fairly inexpensive. I have since started to use Salifert for Ca, Mg and phosphate, but still use API for Alk and the standard tests.
