I'm taking the slow approach to all aspects regarding my tank. What's the best way to add a 5 or even 10 gallon fresh saltwater mixture to the tank in a slow manner-considering salinity and temperature are the same as the DT and it's been properly airated.

For those with no firsthand experience with how to do this without a sump,I'd still appreciate recommendations.

is this for a water change and just trying to keep from "sloshing" the tank ?

I would use a small aqua lifter pump to add it.

Yes. I don't want to just pour a 5gal pale in the tank, even slowly it's still sorta messy. But I'm also trying to keep things as stable as possible...ie. bring about changes "slowly".

If youre doing a waterchange, 5 gallons on new sw isnt going to harm anything if you pour it all in at once assuming its the same salinity as the water currently in the tank

    a) Take the bucket, elevate it, start a siphon w/ a smallish tube (bigger than airline, though), tied with a knot or using a ball valve, wait.

    b) Get a small pump, plumb it up to the tank with a ball valve on the tube, turn down the ball valve to appropriate flow, plug in and wait.

I use an extra maxi-jet and some 1/2" (or whatever fits over the end of the maxi jet) tubing. Takes a little while longer..but it's a lot less messy.

yes I also just use an extra maxi jet 1200 and some tubing. Throw the pump in the DT and pump out 5g, then throw it in my premixed bucket and put 5g of new SW in, painless
