I need to move my reef tank from my room to the living room. What is the best way to go about doing this without disturbing it too much.. Correct me if I'm wrong but here is my plan on doing this.

    1. Suck out water into jugs
    2. Remove live rock, corals, fish and place in container w/ original water in it
    3. Gonna leave the sand as it is in the tank
    4. Move tank and refugium to new location
    5. Place live rock and coral in.
    6. Add original water
    7. Add the fish.

Hoping to do all this within 2 hours. Is this the right way to go or there is another way.

seems like youve got it well planned reef. when you add the water back in , dont disturb the sand or youll have nitrates and such going crazy.

Put a trash bag on top of your sand. Then add your water. The bag will keep from disturbing your sand to badly.

Man, I was about to say that there is no "good" way to move a tank, but you seem to have all of your bases covered. Good luck!

I just did a change over to a larger tank and it took me about 4hr but I switched from CC to LS! Make sure you have enough buckets and some water ready to change just in case. Also I broke a few hard corals during the move, but don't work now I have frags, Ha!

I am also in the process of doing this soon but I have to remove the sand into buckets because there is no way we are lifting a 120g tank with sand in it. Any ideas how to make this go more smoothly? Best way to reduce the nitrates in the tank, etc. Thanks.
