im going ton be volunteering(spelling?) at my local museum working on aquariums. their reef tank is LOADED with orange and green large mushrooms. he told me he would love it if i weeded some of them out. so of course i said weed them out as in bring them home? he said take as many of those darn things as you want, so i plan on taking alot. my question is what is the best way to stick them to the back glass and rock. i have super glue gel but have had a hard time in the past with mushrooms. is it true that if you dry the foot of the mushroom with a paper towel and then glue it , it works better?

Drying a mushroom likely won't make much of a difference. Go to a fabric store and buy bridal veil (it's dirt cheap). Put the mushrooms on a piece of LR rubble, cover the rock with bridal veil, and rubberband it down. In a week or two, remove the bridal veil. The mushrooms with be attached to the rock.

Mushrooms slime over so gluing is tough.
If its for rock I either stick a toothpick through the mushroom and in to a hole in the rock or I wrap a piece of netting like wedding veil tulle around the rock and hold it in place with a couple rubber bands until they attach. A third option is to place a buch of live rock rubble or crushed coral in a tupperware type dish and stick a couple mushrooms inside until they attach them glue the rubble or coral to the rock or glass.

I use wood but it probaby does not matter. They will only be in the tank a few days before they attach anyway.

It doesnt matter wood or plastic. Most people prefer plastic, me i say just as long as it isnt been used. Az covered all three ways that are most often used.

I can't take credit for this idea, but it works great and is "slime-free." Buy a small container of blueberries in the grocery store (the kind that comes in the little clear plastic container that's full of holes). Eat the blueberries. ;D Rinse the container and add small pieces of rock or rubble. Add the mushrooms. Close container. Sink down in the tank and leave it. In about a week, the mushrooms will have attached themselves to a rock. I then glue that piece of rock with the mushroom attached to my live rock. :)

i will try the toothpick method for the rock. i have only sand in the tank no cc or rubble. ill just try dabbing dry the foot of the shroom and putting a few drops of glue and fixing it to the back glass.
