I have D3000. I am still new to camera settings and such, I had it for 2 years now, but I have not used it much .

Can anybody tell me what would be the best setting to take a fish tank picture? I have 18-55mm vr stock lens, and 50-200mm vr lens.

You're gonna want to use the 18-55. You can't really use the best method for closeups with that lens, though. That would be to put the lens right up against the glass and take a picture. You'll probably want to toss it on a tripod and take pics from a bit away. You'll get good full tank pictures this way, but only ok coral pics.

As for settings, I'm speaking in general terms, but I would stick to one of the camera's automatic settings until you feel ready, then move up gradually to the more manual settings.

For good closeups, grab one of the Nikon macro lenses. Make sure its autofocus and f/2.8 though, it helps to have that if you're taking a picture of a moving subject, like a fish.
