I have a flame angel which has been super bossy since I've had it. Over the past 8months, it's bullied to death a green chromis, firefish and a anthias. I've put up with it this long since I think it has some great colors. For fear of losing anymore, I'm considering trading to a bicolor angel since I really like the colors of it. Do you think these are less aggressive? I saw it at the LFS and it eats really well and no signs of disease that I could see. Any thoughts?

I don't know anything about the bicolor, but I was interested in one and my LFS guy told me to stay away because they can be super mean. But every fish is different, and that was just his opinion.

Yeah that's what I want to avoid. It takes me about 1-2months for quarantine, so I'd hate to put this into my display tank after quarantine to find it just as much a bully as my flame angel :-/.

for most success with a dwarf angels they really should be the last fish added to the peaceful tank. if i were you i would return the flame angel and get more peaceful type fish and let them settle. then proceed with a flame or bicolor or what have you knowing you will not be adding any more fish.

i say go for it... as long as the bi color looks like it's eating well at the lfs and looks healthy then should be fine. i've had both a flame and a bicolor... bicolor had a disease and died after a month but never bullied anything, just picked away at the live rock. the flame angel i have now is just the same as the bi color and is healthy as can be!

if you're looking for a very peaceful dwarf angel, have you ever considered the Singapore Angel? apparently they're kinda shy so they need peaceful tank mates and is a gorgeous looking fish

So do you think if I took out the flame and put it in another tank for a month or two, then re-introduced into the display tank that it would forget that it was a bully :cheesy: ? It's just that this flame is an awesome eater and has acclimated very well in the tank and don't want to get another.

Haha! They're just fake rocks I use. Live rock is very expensive where I live and having coral in tanks is actually illegal here, so I resorted to the next best thing. Lighting is just LED stripes I got at DrsFosterSmith and have a regular T-5 lamp, both mfg by USA Current.

I actually saw that fish in the LFS, but was told they are really difficult to keep. Really cool looking fish though.

Yeah, agree, the Potters is an awesome fish, my first choice actually before the Flame. I tried two times, but I had a hard time getting them to eat and when I did, they died within a month :-/.
