    Alright Guys

I've had this skimmer hooked up for over a month now and its still creatin big bubbles from the outlet.
Not only is this asthetically displeasing, its noisey and my water is evaporting much quicker then usual, plus the spray created from the bubbles popping is getting salt everywhere including all over my lights.

Any suggestions on how to stop them?

    Not familiar with these Phoenixheights
but is there not a plate that the water hits and then deflects downwards into the tank?
Deltecs have these so Ive never had a problem with bubbles

if it does not, could you fashion a L shape piece of tubing that fits on over the outlet, so that the water returns below the water level of your tank, as this will probably help with the evaporation issues and Im pretty sure that it will help reduce number of bubbles also

    Hey Steve

It doesnt come with a degassing plate, it comes with what you suggest, and l shape pipe and the water does return below water level, however the bubbles are so big, when they rise they pop quite well, and spray quite well too. The evap problem doesnt bother me so much, its the spray these bad boys cause that does!

    hmmm -
is there a second chamber on these things that you can put chemical media in?
prior to water returning to the tank? as you could add a sponge to that area to act as a bubble trap
as you have to remove and clean cup once per week then you could just remove sponge and rinse in RODI at same time

I wrapped a filter sock around the outlet - seems to have done the trick :)

But still dissapointing that the skimmer does this.

Mine does this too. I put a little sponge on the outlet. Fixed it right up. Their big bubbles caused by the splashing water in the return pipe.

Are you not worreid that the sponge will get blocked and cause the skimmer to overflow?

That has crossed my mind, I take a look at the sponge when I feed every other day, and rinse it out once a week. A little more work but its better than having to clean my light shield off. Also its has pretty big holes in it, so it doesn't clog up very fast.
