i have an 8 yr old iridecent shark in a tank with a 6 yr old angel fish and a 6 yr old parrot fish. also in the tank is a good sized (maybe 16-18 in) plecko (dont know age, got him from a petstore and he was given to them with almost no info). up until the other day i had two angel fish but the other one died. i wanted to get the fish some new friends so i went and bought a new parrot fish which was big enough not to worry about. however the only way to get a new angel fish around here is to get one thats just a baby. i was afraid to let him out into the tank because i didnt know if the shark would eat him or if he would have any other kinds of problems. i decided to put him in a breeder until he got alittle bigger or the other fish got used to him enough. i was wondering if anyone here had any other ideas so he wouldnt be stuck in the little breeder. thanks!

not sure of the exact species being reffered to here with the name irradescent shark

the plecostomus wont bother anything IME
but some of the other fish including the Angels might make life miserable for a new comer
if they have been in there for a long time

you might consider having a perspex clear sheet cut to fit across the tank and divide a small area for the new angel - you can then asses the other fishes reaction to it as they come near the divider
any aggresion indicates best not to allow it into the larger part of the tank

well like i said i have the new angel in a clear breeder and whenever the other angel or any other fish goes near it i dont see any aggression at all towards the new angel. i just feel bad for him being stuck in the breeder. the irredecent shark is technically a species of catfish. heres a link to the wikipedia page about them: Iridescent shark - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
the shark is a good 20" long and if he really wanted to could eat the angel fish. but for an aggressive species hes a really calm fish. the plecko is more aggresive than him actually. i just wondered if there was a possibility to let the angel fish out

The iridescent shark will eat anything that it can fit in its mouth. It's a largemouth catfish, not a real shark, btw.

the angel fish is doing really well except for a small case of fin rot but is being treated for it. the other fish leave it alone so im pretty happy about that. the day after i posted this i found a place that sells angel fish that are almost 5 times the size of the one i got so that didnt make me too happy but i like the one i have so its ok. just 2 days ago i bought a new tank for them but itll be a long time before i can get it up and running cause i have to buy a stand for it so i need to save up. its a 125 gal. to give the shark alittle more room.
