New DI resins need a couple gallons to rinse up. You will get a TDS reading initially until the solution it is stored and shipped in gets rinsed away.

If you have new DI resin you should be reading 0 TDS.
What are your tap water and RO only TDS readings? You may have a bad membrane which is passing high TDS on to the DI.

ANY RO/DI should produce 0 TDS water, at least for a little while.
What are your tap water and RO only TDS numbers?
