Anyways! I had taken my measurements of the inside the stand of my 72g bow front tank, will after I set the tank up and got things cleaned up, it was time to put the 20g sump in the stand and guess what? It won't go in, hahaha! I got it in standing end on end, but no room to lay it down. it won't fit going pass the middle brace and door, which I did remove, but still is just slightly short of fitting.
My question is, I really want the sump back up, would any of you risk removing the middle front brace to get the sump in there? And if you would, how would you go about doing it? The thought scares me to death.

If it were me, I would do a 10-20 gallon water change and get 100-200 lbs out of the tank before removing it. It may be fine anyways (I'll let the engineers handle that question), but that's what I would do.

Pictures would be needed. Is there some temp brace you could place on either side of the center brace? This would be just till you get the sump in place. And I mean 1 temp brace on each side of the center one.

An inverted "U" was installed temporarily. You can see the horizontal 2x4 near the top.

Cross braces rested on the temporary beam, then shimmed up to accept the load.

Another angle: The center brace is ready to be removed

New sump has been inserted atop 1/2" polyfoam sheet (to relieve any pressure points)

    Hope this helps you out.

N00ZE. so once the temporary support are remove what is supporting the front portion of the tank in the center?

I have a similar issue with my 55. I want to put a larger sump, but don't have the width in the stand. I was going to remove 3/8" out of the front and rear supports, but decided not to chance it.

The makers of the stand put that stuff there for a reason and modifying it has to decrease the structural integrity.

Will that's what I have to deal with. I am sure that top piece is making no contact with the tank, but I think it's stapled from up top to that front center brace. The last picture is the supports I added to the front of the tank on both sides.

I was hoping I could just take out that front brace, but looking at it I am not sure that will be possible.
