big tank filtration

what filtration system can be used for a XL aquarium and keep it clean 4-5 thousand gallon aquarium

 

There a number of options, i think most would opt for a large sump with good/large skimmer, a large section for a refugium, and having the tank loaded with as much live rock as possible. I dont know a lot about big tanks (4-5K) because ive only had nanos.

 

I think the bigger issue will be flow to keep the deitrus floating in the water column long enough to go through the filters/sump etc.

 

Good point, probably would need to go with a closed loop system with some powerheads too.

 

Why do you ask do u have a master plan or just curious? What I always thought was like what they use at water parks for wave pools wool creat loots of

a big wide sheet of plastic on a joint and two hydraulic arms pushing back and forth on the sheet to cause wave motion =P
