Bio Balls...is there a difference?

    You want to rinse about 25 percent of them every 6 months if you rinse overy 2-3 day your going to rinse the bacteria that we use the balls for. you want it to grow but dont want debris to build up. keep your pre filter clean and your balls will stay clean8)

    Mirandacollc-Thanks. I had read in several places that you need to rinse them often in a bucket of sw. I appreciate it ;)

    If you have a pre-filter set up with say a drip tray as my Megaflow 1 sump has, little if any detritus collects on the bio balls. I rinsed 1/2 of mine for GP after 6 mos. then waited 1 month and rinsed the other half and that was 1 year ago and the tank is 2 years old.
