I have a 90 gal reef and a 20 gal sump soon to be 55. I have around 150 lbs of live rock. Shuld I remove the bio balls and or add more LR ?

That's likely more than enough LR. If you add any more (depending on how porous the LR is) you might run into flow problems.

Aquascape your tank in a way that is attractive. Whatever is left over goes in the sump. Pre-filter your bioballs and don't worry about them becoming nitrate factories....just make sure you clean your pre-filter often.

I always have problems with bioballs. You do have to clean them. By the time I would remember to clean them, I would see rises in my nitrates. When you have enough lr, you do not need the extra bioload and you do not need to clean the lr.

I myself would much rather have the added oxygenation the bio balls allow then deal with any NO3 if and when they ever sprung up I ran Bio Ball for yrs never had a NO3 problem..And Dissolve 02 saturation at maximum levels all the time..
