bio balls,or rock,or both

    ive got a 75 gal,wet dry,protien skimmer,i was wondering if anyone has any oppinions on the best materals for the sump?would it be benificial to add some rock,charcol, to my sump while its on its cycle. thanks for any input.

    Hmm. I have heard mixed ideas when it comes to bio balls. From what i have heard, bio balls in a reef aquarium will eventually just lead to excess nitrates. I would just go with either some rock and sand or if you want to make it sort of a refugium some fiji mud.

    i ended up doing half bios,and rock,i also went ahead and made a 10gal fuge to house mangroves,more rock
