just like the title asks what would be the pros and cons of doing this. i have tried both bio balls and a refugium and personaly i got better results with bio balls. but i have searched this topic and havnt found anything on it ive seen two separate chambers used but never seen bioballs cascade over the refugium. my thoughts were that it would tumble cheato grass and i could always put a light on the side of the sump

    thanks for your imput.

As long as you maintain bio balls they are great, I personally used bio balls o my old tank and a shallow refuge.

Why would it tumble the cheato grass? Why do you want your grass to tumble?

    Pro's:
Con's: alot less maintence, alot less pods, alot less work, alot less filter, alot less chance of crashing your tank

of using bioballs, basically I really think the fuge is def better

and you want your chaeto to tumble os it gets light everywhere and grows so you can nutrient export it out and remove trates;)
