How about putting LR in the wet/dry under the bioball drip section? The LR would still be fully submerged in the water and the bioballs would be suspended on top of it with the water flowing on them.....would that work?

If you look at the first pic at the top of page two,you will see the prob, the BB`s appear sorta clean(not saying there not dirty just cant see). BUT the whole bottom of the w/d and sponge is caked in debris..I had this prob to when I used my w/d w/BB`s on my 55.got tired of cleaning them and the whole w/d out all the time( (although I do feel they worked well for me for the 2yrs it was in use)(just more to maintain imo). I switched out to a sump/fuge set up with my new tank.....If I were you I would clean out the w/d real good and start to slowly remove the BB`s 1/3 at a time over a few weeks..OR just keep up with them and the w/d..What ever your choice LR or BB`s both with need to be kept clean if used in that manner...good luck..
