yea id like them a little lower lol they make me nervous i bought Nitrate-loc, and phospate-loc for my reactor that i just got a few days go, in the picture there still in bags, and it brought it down quite i bit, my trates were alot higher without that stuff. so im pretty nervous to have them spike lol but i should be alright with my reactor running now my skimmer i previously moved to the back of the tank b/c it wasnt doing its justice in the sump, im assuming its b/c the pump is pulling alot of water so it just couldnt get the protein out, and the skimmers working AMAZING on the back of the tank, the best ive seen it since i bought it, could i put in the fuge? or would it take out my copepods that ive got brewing?

the only thing about caulerpa is it can turn asexual and can poison your tank and for that not you have to prune it more often so that it doesnt turn..but you can absolutely grow it and grow cheato..Cheato is easier to grow, doesnt have to be pruned much unless it outgrows the area and you just sell it another person that needs for a few bucks..by having the cheato on an opposite light cycle then it keeps your ph stable throughout the night it naturally drops..but i would def grow the caulerpa for your tangs but just make sure you keep it pruned up..

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
No need to apologize this is a discussion. Everyone in this hobby has their own recipe. If this was a small amount of bio-balls than sure I would say just get rid of them. And he could but he might see some adverse side effects from removing all at one time. Water changes should help combat that but it may not do enough to prevent an algae bloom. IMO.

i dont think it would take them out..i have my skimmer/fuge combo in my tank and i have a huge pod population in both display tank and fuge..so yeah if you have the room you could put it in there..the pump might get clogged with cheato tho so if you built a little divider than it could work..

that may work, just like a little overflow box for my skimmer pump?? i have enough room to hang it on the side so im probably going to do that and just have the pump in the fuge, now since my skimmer wasnt working correctly can that bring my trates up a little b/c its not taking out the protein?

absolutely, a good working skimmer is a very important piece of equipment for a reef tank, maybe not so much of FOWLR, or softy tank since they like dirtier water, but if you want to get into sps and other you need a good working skimmer..and yeah the skimmer just takes out what would eventually turn into nitrates..

and i would try and make it to where the skimmer skimmed the water first and that water went into the cheato area if thats possible or makes sense..i think you would get better water quality this way..
