I have a 29gal bio-cube that I no longer use because I have upgraded my tanks, so it sits in a corner with no fish in it but I have kept it up and running just in case of an emergency. I was wondering if anybody has converted a Bio-cube into a refugium? It seems like it has everything that a fuge would need to work? Any ideas on whether I should convert it or not? Thanks for any help.

One of the keys for a refugium is low water flow, if you can manage this then there should be no reason it would not do well...after all, a refugium is just another "aquarium" tucked out of the way...

I'm going to be finishing up a project next week with a BC14 as a fuge for my tank.

I'm looking forward to see how your fuge came out using a bio-cube. I have enclosed a diagram of how I am plumbing mine, I wanted to use only one pump but I couldn't get the water where I wanted it to go, so now I guess I will have to settle with two pumps. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know, this is my first time setting up a fuge. So far everything is fitting under the cabinet ;D

I don't know if your plan with the pumps will work. You should consider an overflow from the BC to the sump, with a ball valve on each end of the drain line T, and just have one return pump.
