    Uggg,
    I hate typing this....

My bio cube is killing me.. Already lost my actinic tube, and now the fan needs to be replaced. One of my clown fish got ick horribly and passed away this morning (poor sucker had it in the gills really bad) ...

Now, i'm not enjoying the rock placement at all and feel like it might be a better idea to just break it down and start all over. One good thing to note, my gsp is doing great and my other clown fish is just awesome.

    Cheato is growing like crazy....

Ugg.. i'm not having a good start to my week..

Time to start shopping for more bio-cube replacement parts, i love the fact that i have it sitting right on my computer desk so I'm not gonna get rid of it.. But I am going to pick up more replacement parts as it seems that these things need stuff replaced more often than a standard setup.

    anywho,
once I figure out what to do in the next week - I'll have my web-cam setup next to it and finally setup a signature that will pull pictures from it.

My clown in QT is the one that passed away... Went with the higher temp and fresh water bath .. then ended up putting some coppersafe in the QT tank... Only went with the coppersafe after the break-out got worse.

    gooooood night. :(

Hey bro, don't break it down. You've just hit a bump. Maybe two. Things will be better in the morning. This just means you have to go shopping for another fish. Get two actinics and two fans. These are things I'd keep extra of (if they don't cost $500 a piece).

I agree. Time is the magic cure for everything. Theres nothing wrong that wont fix itself if you just give it time... Well, besides for the hardware, i guess. :-/

i had the same issues with my biocube!!! first the fans got really LOUD and then one day.....silence! Then one of the balasts died with in the first few months i had the thing. I now have the thing in pieces and working on rigging up a custom lighting upgrade and possibly offer the retro kit for sale through AAT. It is still in the design/prototype stage so keep an eye out in the near future :)

you are going to offer it first to your friends here at 3reef right??? I dont like my biocube because of that problem...you would think Oceanic would make better product, but so many people I know have had that same problem...me included! Plus dont get the stands that come with it...when I gave the tank to my parents they ended up buying a nanocube stand for it because the biocube stand was such a piece of junk

Why would they come up with a better product since people are buying the crap one! its the great american way!

Man its just a bump in the road, just keep on going you will get it... As far as the fans go, all they use is cheap computer fans that do not hold up very well. There is a place online that I have been buying waterproof fans from. I will see if I can find the link and post it.

Edit: Hey I did have it at work, here it is Mouser Electroincs just keep in mind they are not as cheap as thier computer counterparts....

once I get my next tank set up and play rearrange with Bob my mantis and move my seahorses over to the 28g biocube...I am going to get this I think so I can start to do more corals and not worry about the crappy ballast and fans that came with the tank

JBJ K-2 Viper Deluxe 150W HQI Clamp on Lamp Lighting Fixture w/ 2 LEDs & Fan, Clamp On > Metal Halide > Fixtures > Lighting > Saltwater Aquarium Supplies

even with the fan I am sure I will have to get a chiller still....Blahhhh! but hopefully with the fan and the open top not so bad

Oceanic doesn't actually build them, they just stick their name on them

Sorry for your loss and problems man, worst case you can always pickup a JBJ nano if you decide to change tanks
