I am buying a reef octopus bio pellet reactor from BRS and now I just need help with which biopellets to buy.

I have a gift card from Amazon and was hoping to buy pellets from them to save some money.....however if none of these are good then I will buy from somewhere else.

Here is the biopellets amazon carries:

    AquaMaxx
    NP
    SWC
    Dr. Tims
    Two Little Fishes

Any of these better than others.....or all all biopellets created equal??

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

All bio pellets are not created equally. There are a lot of pellets on the market that are not pure. When they hit big, a lot of companies began selling the first thing they could get in bulk. And not really looking into the possible effects of once they have broken down by being consumed by bacteria.

I have used Ecobak from Warner Marine for about 16 months and could not be happier with them.

Dr. Tim's seems to always have really quality products, so that would be an option as well.

I started running them the day my tank cycled. I have never had any detectable nitrates, and my phosphates have never been above 0.06. And I feed my fish 3-4 times a day, and my corals get fed every other. So yeah, you could say I'm happy with the results :)

Thanks for the info. I think I will use my gift card to get the Dr. Tims biopellets then. I can't wait to get mine all started. I believe they say it takes about 3-4 weeks before you really see results.

It takes about 3 weeks for the bacteria to really colonize, and then you will start seeing results. I highly suggest adding the amount of suggested pellets divided into 3. So say your system requires 400 ml of pellets, put about 140 ml to start. Let them run for 2 weeks and then add some more and so on. What you don't want to do is have a bacterial bloom, and also you don't want to strip your tank of nitrates and phosphates too fast. As we know, nothing good happens fast in this hobby.
