I need to set QT for my Chocolate Tang. I have him for 2 months. He eats like a pig but getting really skinny. Im sure something is not right. I think he has inside parasites, worms.... I always keep Bio wheel in my sump just in emergency so I can set QT. But this time its not there. I forgot to put it there last time. My question is how long it takes to seed bacteria on bio wheel. How many days I have to keep it in sump? Thank you.

What exactly are you feeding him? Tangs require a variety that includes meaty foods, plankton, and algae. Regardless how much he eats, if something is missing from his diet, he will continue to lose weight until he dies from malnutrition. Unfortunately, many other fish suffer the same fate, as well.

As for the bio-wheel, two weeks is the typical waiting period to ensure it's fully colonized.

I feed him Brine, Mysis shrimps soaked in Garlic and Selcon, Pellets, Nori, Salad, Spinach. He loves all that food. All fishes are fat and healthy including other tang Blue Hippo.
