This might seem really dumb, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I have a 14 gal bio cube up right now. I put base rock in and 1 live from my 55gals fuge. I was about to take the bio balls out an add more rock back there. When I started pulling the balls out they were infest with pods! This was the only reason I was going to replace them, for more pods. Is it posibile for pods to live in the bioballs and establish a colony? The tank has been running like this with 1 turbo snail in there for about 3 or 4 months.

Yes pod live in bio balls or bio bail or anything else Bio ball and bail all get a bad rap I have never found mine to create any NO3 issues , I always run a nitrate coil and I do like the added dissolved oxygen the water takes up in its trip along all the bio balls and what ever else we use . In the old days we used old fishing line to hair curlers to bottle tops :)

Yes. They eat detritus and phytoplankton. They don't care if they find their food on plastic Vs. live rock.
