The real question id do you have Light over the wet/dry? If you do than you would be ok with most of the calurepa. Although I would recommend with going around 3 watts per gallon

GOING TO TAKE THE BIOBALLS OUT SLOWLY AND ONCE THERE OUT REMOVE THE EGG CRATE THING AND USE THAT 1/2 OF THE WET DRY FOR LR PLANT I COULD PUT A 1-1 1/2 INCE SAND BED BUT I PRETTY SURE THE PLANTS WOULD NEED MORE SAND THEN THAT ANYWAY SO WHY BOTHER. THATS WHY I WANT TO USE PLANTS THAT WILL ATTACH TO LR

grape capulera is a popular choice it grows like a weed and works well in a sump or refugium type area also it doesnt need lots of lighting. you might be able to go to a lfs and get some for free if you ask or if you buy it, it should be really cheap to get

Actually, very few macroalgaes require a substrate. Many of them can just float in your refugium.

Mangroves (a type of tree and not a macroalgae) definately prefers a substrate but can grow without one.
