Hey guys, which MH would I need for biocube 29 gallon?
Also is it 100% needed a chiller if I get a MH lighting? specially for summer? I live in cali, but on like really hot days, I cool off the water with frozen bottle. Could I still do that if I get MH lighting?

Please recomand me a good and budget MH lighting please, I want to keep sps and clams. Thanks

It really depends largely on the ambient air temp and humidity in your house. If you usually use a/c a lot of the time you might not have much of a problem. If on the other hand the air in your house in summer is warm and humid, you will probably need to take measures to deal with the higher tank temp.Frozen bottles might be okay in emergencies such as a power outage but don't seem like a good plan.A chiller would be best and of course the most exspensive to buy and operate.Cooling fans can work quite well but will increase evaporation dramatically. It all might make you rethink how badly you really want that m/h.

Oh,forgot to mention,I use a 250 halide over my 44gal. corner tank and have no problem with tank temp as long as my house is 80 degrees or lower. That is with open top,and it does get humid in Jersey in summer.

I don't know anything about the Odyssea, but I don't like the viper at all. It is really cheap plastic and poorly designed. I had one melt itself and almost fell in my tank as a result. The top arm let go, if I hadn't had the bottom section of the arm as high, it would have ended up in the tank. Did still melt all the wires though. Just not designed well at all. I think the new ones with the built in fan are supposed to be better, not sure really.

As for heat, with an open top and fans, you can get some pretty significant heat reduction. I've run MHs on a number of tanks, in both air conditioned and non-air conditioned rooms and never needed a chiller. it depends somewhat on the design of the tank and surface area though. I am not that familiar with the biocubes, so not sure how well this works for them.
