    4-6 weeks
every two days or so, just dip some cyclopeeze in the water for a couple seconds, the clownfish typically take care of it pretty quick
weekly water changes of 3-5 gallons
    ammonia - 0
    nitrite - 0
    nitrate - 0
    pH - 8.3
    calcium - 460
    alkalinity - 9 dKH
    salinity - 1.025
    temp - 79*

corals open completely inside 15 minutes in the tank. Every inhabitant is happy it seems.

Sounds like near perfect params to me. There are some usual causes to help you narrow down a probable cause. Poor water circulation, too many fish added at once; accumulation of nutrients old lights or the wrong spectrum of lighting (probably not the case)

The best way to remedy this problem is to remove what it is feeding on by increasing the flow in the tank. Placing power heads in the tank or upgrading the stock biocube pump making sure there are no dead spots where water can become stagnant or get a build up of detritus can make a world of a difference. Maximizing the flow and the bubbles in a protein skimmer (or getting one) will also help. If you don't have one already get a syphon gravel cleaner, using this change 15% of your water (use RO/DI water) Use a turkey baster to syphon any slime remaining rock work that you can get to. You can treat with a red slime remover to help your odds in the battle, but I would find some that is Reef safe. Change your carbon filter. The use of bio balls in trickle filters will increase nitrates which will feed slime algae. I dont know if you have considered dumping the bioballs or not but i would consider it. i modded my biocube to have a fuge in the middle compartment.

We have modified the biocube to have the inTank media baskets... It's running filter floss, purigen, chemi-pure and chaeto. I suppose I could upgrade the stock pump as there are a couple very slow flow areas.

you could try a maxi jet 1200 or a rio 6. could do the hydor flo water deflector for more random water paterns, but it takes a little chunk of the pumps flow to turn the head.

I'll order one in... I saw a bristle worm today... wondering if a red spotted sand perch would snack on them.

What replacement pump are you going to use? I have a BC29 and have been wanting to replace mine as well.
