Hey guys.. as you can see im new to the site..

    heres the scoop...

i just got a 29 gallon biocube on saturday. I had previously a 20g bowfront. As anyone would do, i transfered the subsitrate, liverock, fish, ect.

The tank itself, is up and running.

    Questions
    1. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to divide the chambers from the tank so no fish/crabs/shrimp will get caught in the filter?
    2. My water level sits about a quarter above the minimum mark, and seems to drop sometimes.. is this because of evaporated water? How can i get it to go up without overflowing my tank?
    3. Water seems to overflow just a TAD into the third chamber with the pump. Is this bad?

Would appreciate some responses, would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
    :)

First off Welcome to 3reef! I don't know what you mean about dividing the chambers - everything is divided already is it not? You have a water intake on the bottom right and top right. Nothing has been able to get into the back of my 14g biocube. If I'm not mistaken, when the lid comes down it closes up the top. If you have water overflowing into the third chamber, without a pump upgrade, then you have something blocking at the bottom. Check you sponge at the bottom and clean it. The move probably shook up a bunch of gunk that is now stuck in that sponge. Hope this helps - also some popular mods are to replace the bioballs with live rock rubble and upgrade the return pump to get better filtration. I would check to see if there is anything on top you drip tray as well - the tray at the top of the second chamber.

and yes, i have the bottem intake and top on the right side. Im still dealing with the tiny overflow, but called the store and they said thats normal.
is there any chance i have the strainer in the middle chamber backwards by chance?

Don't worry about overflowing the tank. I replaced the BioBalls with a refugium (chaeto, LR) and had to raise the water level in the back chambers to pretty close to the top.

Just keep your level above min to avoid getting micro bubbles. The max line is just to keep the water at a level that allows the water to trickle down through the bioballs. As you raise the level of water the trickle effect is lessened...
