My mom is getting a biocube here pretty soon, the HQI version of the oceanic brand. She was wondering if she could put it near a TV about 3ft away. She thinks that the evaporation combined with salt could be detrimental to our big screen tv and other tv components such as blue ray player, dvd player etc. I told her that due to evaporation being only water and being 3ft away that she would have no problem. So any body's input is welcome.

I have had my BC29 about 2 feet from the TV for ever. You should be fine as I have not noticed any issues.

I think the TV will probably be ok. Is the top of the tank covered? But, believe it or not the TV could harm the fish. The continuous flashing of the TV could bother them. I do not see it being a huge deal, but just to be safe I think you should choose elsewhere to put the tank if you have a different space to put it.

It would be to the side of the TV because we do not want glare on the fish tank or T.V.

The side pretty much solves the problem. Even if it was in front I do not see it making a real effect. Sounds good ;)
    Good Luck!

I have my 55 gallon 1.5 feet from my TV :)

Having a fully covered tank helps.

Salt shouldn't be a big deal unless you are splashing it around :)

I doubt the TV would be harmed. A friend of mine has his 46" flat screen on the wall right above the tank. No problems. However, the TV has caused problems with the fish. If the volume is turned up even a little, the sound spooks the fish. He's lost a couple nice fish so far. I would try to find antoher place for the tank, for the sake of the fish. :)
