As most of you know the stock biocube skimmer sucks butt. Seeing as its just a tube with an airstone and collection cup I was thinking, the reason it sucks is probably because of the airstone. So my question is this: if I were to get a nice airstone for it do you think it's quality would improve?

    TIA.

no,the reason they use wood stones is because they produce much finer bubbles allowing them to make foam, regular airstones put out too big of bubbles to work properly.

I had an air stone driven skimmer on my jbj cube.I've tryed fiddling with it a hundred different times to come to the conclusion that air stone skimmers are next to worthless, there was nothing i could do to get it to produce mabey 2 teaspoons of skimmate in a week.

There are alot of "better" skimmers out there that would work great, but honestly,on a tank that size, keeping up on your weekly water changes would be more than enough.

Sorry,i'm not trying to be negative, just truthful, and down the road it would be a good move to invest in a better nano skimmer.

BTW I just glanced at your tank thread and yes you are right, nano's can be a real pain to aquascape, but you pulled it off really nice, looks great.;)
