It may be the wrong kind of acrylic, now that you mention it; it's labeled Optix in the store, as compared to Lexan and another strength of acrylic between those two.

As for the bonding, it's not silicone; I know that doesn't hold acrylic well at all. You're gonna laugh, but it's a boatload of crazy glue. That's why the box has a milky kind of coloring to it - crazy glue all over the place, with my fingers making it ridged and opaque. The outer and inner boxes had both been sitting for a few days holding water while hanging from a coat hanger, so I'm pretty sure the bonds are ok.

I'm looking into a premade overflow now that this one is broken, though. I don't think going through the accessory kit is going to work out because of the bending of all the components needed to get it all to fit. Particularly problematic was the siphon tube; it put too much pressure on the outer sides of the boxes.

Alright, if I go the route of building another box myself, I'm definitely gonna get Weld-On to do it.

Does that place also sell cast acrylic, or would I have to get that somewhere else?

+1 for saving me a headache later down the road. I would have certainly attempted to silicone any and everything.
