Hi, We were thinking about making our next tank a compact like the JBJ Nano, but want to learn more about them. We thought it might take up less space than using our 29g as we planned. Anyone have favorites? Which offers the best value for the $$?

First, what the heck does JBJ stand for???

Next, does anyone have an opinion on the different cubes? I've seen the Oceanic Bio Cube, and see that Current makes a few.:-/ Do any use T5 HO lights, or just the compacts? I don't want the cost of running metal halides (electricity OR new bulbs!)

    Thanks all!;D

Just a brand name JBJ Aquarium Products

The Current Aquapods are quite nice as well.

All brands of nano's use either PC lighting or MH. They don't make t5 bulbs in the right size for most prepackaged nano's.

I love the Current Solana for it's looks but it's flow characteristics stink to the high heavens and has to be modified with use of powerheads within the tank. I modified all of the other nano's but I didn't have to put anything in the tank....I just upgraded the powerhead in the back.

I have run every type of nano, in all sizes, with all lighting configurations with the exception of the Red Sea Max. They all have their quirks but most are made pretty well.

The RSM (red sea max) has T5's in it, the only one to not have MH/PC that I know of
