Idepth cost extra with those price gouging Apple executives. Instant ocean has been arund for decades. I use it as well.

    1. Make enough RODI
    2. Add mixing pump
    3. Add some I/O - slowly of course (about half of what I know I'm going to need)
    4. Considering I/O typically mixes out at 1100-1150ppm Mg, add enough Mg supplement to bump up Mg to 1350-1400.
    5. Mix in more I/O, until 1.026.

This pretty consistently results in a 10-10.5 dKh for me. Plus, I/O is not loaded with unnecessary trace elements.

Ask all the big time hobbyist which have had successful reef tanks for years; most use plain old I/O. Of course, most them use Ca reactors too, so being a bit off doesn't matter so much.

For the record, I do 20g W/C, and I use ~300ml of Kent Tech-M while mixing.

Weird. My Mg tests fine using I/O. In fact, I cannot get my Mg to drop below 1400 (Salifert and Red Sea tests). It is the ONLY thing my tank does not soak up daily. I do 15G water changes every 2 weeks...and am trying to span it to once a month now that I am on a full dosing regiment of Ca/Alk and Red Sea Colors A-D.

I am so surprised you don't have a monster sized tank biocube!

Nano keepers do not feel the need to over compensate with big tanks. :p

Forgot to add: I rarely have to adjust my Magnesium with IO. Now you got me all worried Hunter. So next time I make up a batch I guess I will test.

Oh yeah this thread is about Chris's Biocube.

Just wanted to offer that I experience the same Mag results with my tank.
