    Thanks :)

    Thanks.

I have been waiting to use this clam kit for a long while now, I hope it stays happy and healthy for years.

Nice pick-up. Clams are cool. I can't wait to have a couple.

Well once again my Tunze 9002 Skimmer bit the dust.. It seems every month or so the airline clogs with salt buildup. I think going forward it will run non stop even during feedings to prevent saltwater going into the airline tube.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
That is odd on the Tunze 9002, I absolutely loved mine and never had any issue with it.

Are you sure the tubing is not kinked inside the body of the skimmer.

A clam will be fine in your tank as long as it's a healthy specimen.

Congrats, I see more clams in your future it's an addiction.

I have all new airline and no kinks, idk if you ever took yours apart but the clear 90 deg bend going into the air diffuser clogs with salt. I'm guessing when the skimmer turns off water floods into that 90 deg bend.

Cheryl, I am VERY nervous to try clams. I was also nervous to try SPS and here we are months later with growth. If you have any n00b tips on clams please share. :)

Always check for pyramids snails at the base, after purchase and at night.
Try really hard to place in a secure spot and resist moving, you do not want falling.
Make sure the mantle is facing upward, sometimes they attach horizontally.
The clam should respond quickly to shadow, the mantle should be fully extended.
Research Pinched Mantle Disease, very common and treatable.
Like with sps keep the big 3 in check and consistent.
Mod to lower flow, they do not like to be blasted.

    That is about it.

That should not be happening to the tubing. Something is not right. Where is the skimmer in the back compartment or the sump?

Thanks for the clam help, I have that Thrive Clam kit. I plan to follow the directions to a T this Tuesday.

I have the skimmer in chamber 2 with constant water levels because of the overflow.
