I am running Ecobak biopellets on my tank and have had them running for a about 4 months or so. To my question - I am out of Ecobak and have some BRS pellets. Would it be a mistake to mix them in my reactor. I need to add some more to get the amount running correct.

I can't possibly see a problem with that, but who knows. WM says their pellets are proprietary. Be that as it may, I can't see pellets being so drastically different as to cause some sort of adverse reaction. It might even be beneficial to different types of bacteria.

Obviously, you can just throw them out and put in BRS... but then they have to colonize again. I say add some and call it good.

I started with Ecobak and went to BRS pellets and there was no difference.

I personally would not use them. Based on the fact that Ecobak is made from a totally different polymer than the BRS pellets. And that Ecobak is the only pellet derived from a water based extraction method as opposed to a solvent based method of most others on the market.

If I have had success with one product, I am not going to add something I view as inferior. That is just my opinion.

Would you put Wal-Mart tint on a Ferrari?

If I had a Ferrari I would go all out and go with the most expensive tint at Walmart.

    Sorry for the confusion

I have used both products and saw no difference between the 2, both worked as advertised.

Bio Pellets are all the same material PHA,

Its a carbon source for bacteria to consume and live on, nothing more. IME I wouldnt use it on a reef system but on a FOWLR
