You can start the reactor with pellets at any time,it may take some time for the pellets to "cycle " and become live with bacteria. It would also be good to start your skimmer if you haven't already done so and let it break in as a good functioning skimmer is key when using biopellets.

    Thanks for reply,
Skimmer has been running since day 1, I will setup the reactor in a coule of days, its one with a submersible pump ob the bottom, no other tubing, I will position it right next to the skimmer, the water lvl in sump isv10" and the reactor rises another 4" or so above the water level should I keep the water level there or fill the reactor, and I read I should start with 100ml and add mor every two weeks, can someone confirm this,
    Thanks

I'm not familiar with the type of reactor you are using but I assume the pump will fill it and the water overflow back into the sump.If you are able to adjust the flow try and get it so that the pellets are gently tumbling and not blowing around the entire chamber.I also do not know your tank size or brand of pellets your using but it is usually recomended to start with 1/4 the reccomended maximum dose and increase it by 1/4 each week.Gradually increasing in this way is the safest way to start as it will reduce the chance of a bacterial bloom which can cloud your water and deplete available oxygen.

The pump does fit it, it cane shipped with it, and fits into the bottom, there are holes in the top lid, should water overflow out of these or should it stay within the chamber, there is no adjustment on the reactor, I will get some pics up of it asap, not used it yet but it is 2nd hand, tank size is 50 gallon DT, 10 gallob sump, this will reduce due to rock sand and equipment, will start with a quarter pellets,
When I had a tank with cannister a few years back it was cloudy a while due to new tank syndrome, is this a bacterial bloom you refer to, as yet I have not had this happen on this setup , a 2ft cube with sump, and 28kilo of lr for filtration, oh and filter sock

Pics will be added shortly, but I added my reactor into the return side if the sump next to my skimmer, and added around 150 ml of bio pellets, the problem I have now is the pump supplied, Atman 600lph barely moves the pellets and the outer inch does not move at all, how can I fix this and the eater that cascades back down the sides of the reactot causes water to splash out of my sump onto the woodwork,

Thanks so far I appreciate it :)

That sounds like it could be a problem as proper flow seems to be an important factor when using biopellets. It might be good to start a thread asking for help with that reactor and try to include some pics.I myself am not familiar with it but someone else may be able to help.
