    I think it would starve out the chaeto as long as everything is working properly, (ie skimmer, and reactor)

    It sounds like that's something I'd be interested in to be honest. I do like having the chaeto, I tell myself for pods and what not... but I think I'd like having a clean sump and a return that I don't have to clean off the return pump from chaeto fragments.

    How long have you been running them? I ask because I really do think it would be nice to rework my sump... if I could move my pump to lower flow area, or even add in another baffle to help some bubbles... I could relax a little about it.
