how do you take care of your rics? Do you feed them? Do they prefer low / medium flow? I can't seem to get mine to grow or open up much...

My rics do get fed a decent amount because they are right under my spiral coral(NPS) which does receive feedings about 5-6 times a week so they often do catch some of the excess food from feeding the spiral. As far as flow and light I would say they receive about moderate of both...It seems like a lot of people give them way more light than they need, they require only low/moderate lighting....In my experience that can be a deal breaker, with moderate light/feeding/and flow mine have some of the most vibrant colors I've seen online.

Do you have pictures of yours with tank placement? I can see if I can help further...

Thanks for the info...I can try to get a picture up. It's interesting because I've read the full gambit of care - high light/moderate flow/low light/low flow/high flow/high light.....I figure I'd ask someone that has some good specimens.....before a picture, I have mine in a relatively moderate flow (for a few) low flow for one and all are at about mid to top for light....

Hmm interesting. One thing I've actually read and I don't recall where, is to start them low in the tank(sand bed) until they open up. And then progressively move them until they are in a area with moderate flow/lighting. Have you tried feeding them some cyclopeeze or something?

Yes, I have given them some cyclopeeze....what is the optimum way to do this? Turn off flow and target feed with a syringe or just put in tank and let flow distribute? I've done the latter but was wondering if that really isn't very helpful?...

Honestly I feel like mine hardly get any food at all unless I turn off the pump and feed them with a syringe because.....Do yours react when you put food in the water...Even if I don't feed them direct they seem to notice when foods in the water, they always open up really large and try to catch whatever they can...I notice they just go crazy over reef roids/coral frenzy. When I feed reef roids I typically just put some in directly in front of the circulation pumps let it mix through out the tank for 5 minutes and then turn off the pumps for another 15 minutes, that usually seems to get all my corals open up all the way before o move on to mysis, cylop eeze, rods food, mysis or w/e I feed that day. I don't get them to use to the reef roids though because I like to give my corals a large mixture of foods.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
That is crazy about the Dendro, I have never seen that. They do indeed look like Dendro though.

    Fantastic images.

Love the yumas and baby dendros! I had bought a red chili coral a while back not realizing it was an NPS...it was all bent downward and certainly didn't look as cool as yours. I still have it in a cave but it hasn't perked up at all :(...........
