Note to self, don't post when dead tired.

    (koralia 4 + noname) = 1500 gph / 20 gallons = 75/hr turnover.

Dosing: I was dosing by recommendation of my LFS. I copied their dosing but scaled it down to fit my tank. I'll stop and see if this was the issue. I do have to say that I think my LPS and softies appear happier with dosing, however.

Yes calcium hardness was dkH, I couldn't remember the unit when I typed this up.

RTN sounds like that would suck majorly. It's odd, I have another set of SPS that are doing wonderfully. Lights on in 1hr.

I would work on your dozing...

I am guessing 19 total calcium was the number of drops?

    So we have
Alk 6 (low, should be 9-11)
Ca 380 (low, should be 420-440)
Mg 1470 (high, should be 1280 or so)

What kind of light were they under at the lfs?

Rtn is probably accurate. It happens. Lost my first acro to it...

Fix params, frag it and keep your fingers crossed.

I think your tank is too new to sustain sensitive corals. Your biological system is too immature and will have swings in water quality throughout the day. It's the same as trying to keep an anemone in a young tank, it usually leads to death unfortunately.

i set my tank up a month prior to yours. mines not close to being ready to sustain SPS corals.... as others said too many water chemistry fluctuations still going on. when it gets stable, other life is thriving, and the softies start taking off i will then add SPS (when the lighting requirements get met too).

Hmm I didnt see him post how big his tank is but if you have two power heads 5 gal/per hour would be pretty low so im imagining this is a typo.

I would guess that his main problem is that his kH is very low and his pH probably swings alot. I dont see a problem with his Mag as many people keep mag in the 1500 range and I have seen people who have overdosed/treated for bryopsis get to the 2100 range without having any negative impact on SPS.

Alk, calcium and don't forget the 8 pH.
Maybe even the placement. In my experience, they loved light. But I think it has more to do with water parameters already mentioned.

Buy some ESV two-part. Saved my bacon recently with Montipora.
