I had planned on using the same blue for the background I used on my 46 BF, but after looking at my new 90G tank, I'm afraid the background will look weird with the blue. The drilled part is the left corner and it's has a black covering that sticks out about 8 inches across the back. I would rather than just blend in, so I'm thinking about using black instead of blue. Anybody have pictures of their reef tank with a black background?? I'd love to see some!

My cube tank has a black background, but it isn't stocked yet :p I do like it, though.

Do you guys have pictures? I'd love to see your tanks! The online picture is nice. I'm thinking the black would also fade out things like powerheads...

    More pictures!

I don't have anything in it, but here's the tank :)

And it does seem to take away from the view of the powerhead, which is nice.

I've done both and either black or blue looks fine. Actually if you don't plan to scrape the coralline I think black can look better as it provides nice contrast. Blue is more natural looking though and provides more depth I think, but I've been happy with both (also with or without black overflows BTW).

I'm a fan of the Blue! Especially if you will have shimmer. It looks like you're snorkeling.
Most people like black it seems. If you go blue I think it does need to be clean if you let coraline grow over might as well go black. In that case you have to have room behind the rocks to clean.
I painted mine myself with acrylic artist paint. The nice thing is with a little denatured alcohol it will come right off and could change to black if I wanted.
