black dots

    i just got a uv sterilizer two nights ago and after having it on for 24 hours its made a huge difference in the tank. all the animals are more active including the snails and hermit crab. im thrilled with it. however i agree with the $$$ part.

    im not a fan of freshwater dipping. number one its hard to catch the fish. and stresses them out more

    I have never fresh water dipped a fish in my life and don't ever plan to. With "regular" ich, I prefer to keep the fish in the tank and soak its food in antibiotics and let the parasite run its course. I haven't lost a fish to it yet. I'm not familiar enough with black ich to know if that treatment would work or not.

    I have a similar happening with my clowns. But it almost seems to be age marks. My clowns are...4-5ish and the female looks to have a black spot or two. At first I thought it was a parasite of some sort...but after a while I realzied it was just a mark.

    oh that makes me feel better!
    ya mine are 4 years old as well. so maybe its just age. id much rather want age marks then black ich!

    i also like the idea about meds in food then dipping
